synopsis
After high school, Dika (Raditya Dika), which is also called Goat, must continue their education in Adelaide, Australia, took a finance major who does not fit their interests. So began the journey Dika for identity: what he wants to do in real life? As he lectures in Australia, problems arise with Kebo (Herfiza Novianti), his girlfriend, because they have to undergo a Long Distance Relationship (LDR) which causes a huge financial outlay, communication is disrupted, and the longer life of the college makes them different. Other problems such as how Dika have difficulty in learning, and the emergence of Sally Dickson, professor of Caucasians are more like women soldiers, adding to the dilemma of the Goat in solving problems LDR and finance (in two real sense: finance its needs and its school finance). SD meeting with a friend, Ine (Sarah Shaftiri), which reads Dika blog titled "Kambingjantan", opened his mind that he could have been a comedy writer. Meanwhile, his friendship with Harianto (Edric Tjanra), which also LDR Kediri child with her boyfriend, Dika adds confidence to continue to determine: what kind of life she wants? Other supporting characters, such as Mama Dika, is a reflection of mothers who expect a lot on his eldest son, "today mama" who was very familiar with her but forced to admit that his son has "excess" other. Salatiga is small city in Central Java, Indonesia and located between Semarang and Surakarta city. It situated at the foot of Merbabu and Telomoyo Mount, and has a relatively cool climate due to its elevated position. This city has a history of why it is called Salatiga. And this is the story …
Once upon a time, there was a king his name is Adipati Pandanarang II, who governed Semarang as regent. His people loved him very much because he was honest and wise but he loves to his exuberant wealth. The character of Adipati was heard by Sunan Kalijaga, he is a wise wali. Sunan wants to remains Pandanarang II through passing off as seller of grass and sell it to the king with very low price. Adipati just gives him 5 sen for his grass. Everyday, the king ask to the seller to put the grass into the stable but the seller inserts his money from the king between the grass. The money was found by the servant of the king and he told to his employer.
And what has done by the seller of grass makes the king angry, he felt that the seller mock him
and ask to the seller why he doesn’t received the money. The seller said that he doesn’t need the wealth because it never lasting. And he also said that there was gold and diamond in the palace yard. The seller prove it to the king and the result there was gold and diamond inside it. Finally, the king knows that the seller is Sunan Kalijaga. He asks apologize to Sunan and Adipati ask to become his follower. Sunan Kalijaga agree of his idea but he must leaves his wealth.
Adipati’s wife joined with her husband. But, she doesn’t willing to leaves her wealth and give it to the poor people. She asks to her husband to goes earlier. After that, this women saves her gold and diamond into her bamboo stick.
The king and Sunan Kalijaga walk together but in their way they meet with three robbers.
“If you want the wealth, just wait the old women. She brings her gold and diamond in her bamboo stick,” Said Sunan Kalijaga.
Then, the queen come with her stick. Three robbers ask the women’s stick and carry away from her. The queen just cry. When she met with her husband and Sunan, she told the story to them about what happened to her.
Sunan said “ You doesn’t hear what your husband said. if you want to follow me just leave your wealth”.
To remain that tragedy, Sunan Kalijaga named the place “Salah Tiga” which literally meant three mistakes. Salah is mistake and tiga is three.
Sunan Kalijaga said that there were three mistakes in that place, the first is king’s mistake because he is very loves of his wealth, second is the queen’s mistake, and the last is the robbers. Day by day Salah Tiga become Salatiga. Nowadays, this city become the busy city.

This novel is contemporary religious novel with education theme. Negeri 5 Menara novel is the first of a trilogy series by Ahmad Fuadi. In general, the author tells the story of five young men who was studied at islamic boarding school Pondok Madani or PM. The fifth main character are Alif Fikri from Padang, Atang from Bandung, Raja dari Medan, Dulmajid from Sumenep, Said from Mojokerto , and the last Baso from Gowa in South Sulawesi. These five students life together in Pondok Madani and make some group named shohibul menara. Shohibul is from Arabic word means the owner, and menara is tower. Then, the mean of their group is the owner of tower.
In the beginning, the figure Alif wants to be a like BJ Habibie. He wished to study at high school Bukittinggi to achieve his goals. Unfortunately, his mother does not allow it. Alif he wanted to be a preacher or religious leader so he thinks send her to boarding school. She wants that Alif become an ustadz or religious leaders. At first, Alif so shocked after heard what his mother wants, because he will lifes in the boarding school and also obeys the regulations. But after that he obeys what his mother wants to study in Pondok Madani. But as time goes by, he joined it with his friends in Pondok Madani. All of them believe in a magic words: Man Jadda Wajada the means who do his job earnestly he will succed.
According to some observers, the author of the novel Negeri 5 Menara successfully to describe a modern atmosphere in the boarding schools that have been considered old-fashioned, stiff and uninteresting. The view about Pondok (Islamic Boarding School) that only teach religious subject . In this novel he shows the modern side Islamic boarding school by telling the student study about art, language and also speak English and Arabic in their daily activities that can not be tolerated. The authors also assessed intelligent he gives the humor side that made this heavy novel humor nice for read.
This novel changes the paradigm of Islamic boarding school world and motivation novel as Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata. Negeri 5 Menara as Best Seller and was appointed to films in 2012. This novel is recommended for anyone who was in the process of realizing their dreams.

Man Jadda Wajada is the great words of Ahmad Fuadi’s life. The meaning of this words is where there’s a will, there’s a way. His name rose to popularity through his best seller novel “ Negeri 5 Menara” . This novel is the first book of a trilogy of his novel and was appointed to films in 2012. He also got Indonesia Readers Award . Ahmad Fuadi was born in a small village in the edge of Lake Maninjau, West Sumatra on December 30 1972. His mother was an elementary school teacher, and his father madrasah teachers.
He was graduated from Islamic Boarding School of Gontor Ponorogo, East Java. And continue his study in International Relationship at Padjadjaran University, Bandung.He ever joined Youth Exchange Program in Quebec, Canada. In the end of his study in Bandung he also got the opportunity from SIF Fellowship to study a semester in National University of Singapore. During his lecture he often wrote the article and sent it to several media mass.
After graduation he accepted to be journalist of Tempo newspaper. A year later, he went to Washinton DC with his wife for their master degree. While lecture they became the correspondent of Tempo and Voice of America journalist. In 2004 he received a scholarship to study at Royal Holloway, University of London to the field of documentary film. He also ever became as director of communications in a conservation NGO: The Nature Conservancy.
Negeri 5 Menara published in 2009, is the first novel he wrote. The reason why he wrote novels, because they want to provide benefits to others, as the words is commonly taught in Islamic boarding school “Man Jadda Wajada”. His novel is very inspiring and gives the positive influence to the reader, the story was adapted from his experience in boarding school life. After Negeri 5 Menara, Fuadi published a second novel the titled Ranah 3 Warna (2011), followed by Rantau 1 Muara which the third book of his trilogy.

the Novelist number 1 in Indonesia

scholar of Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, is also known as a director, da’i, and

Start his secondary education at the junior Futuhiyyah 1
Mranggen and He study of yellow books (Kitab Kuning) while studying at
Pondok Pesantren Al Anwar, Mranggen Demak under the care of KH Hamzah Abdul
Bashir. In 1992 he migrated to the cultural city of Surakarta to study at
Madrasah Aliyah Special Program (MAPK) Surakarta, graduating in 1995. After
that went to the Department of Islamic Theology Intellectual, Department of
Hadith Al-Azhar University, Cairo and completed in 1999. In 2001 passed the
Postgraduate Diploma (Pg.D) S2 at The Institute for Islamic Studies in Cairo,
founded by Imam Al-Baiquri.
The young man with full name Dika Angkasaputra Moerwani was born in jakarta, 28 of December, 1984. This 29 years old man was usually called Radith. He is well-known as a humorous books writer. the writings is actually from his own blog that's finally published. his first book titled "Kambing Jantan" was become best seller. the book tells about the story of Dikung (Raditya Dika) when he studied in Australia. he is very popular with his writings that has unique style. the "gaul" style of languge used by him in writing makes him relished by young generation.
Radit's writings
1. Kambing Jantan(diary of a fool student). the format of the book writing is like a diary. it tells about the story of Radith, an Indonesian who study in Adelaide, Australia. it was firstly written in his own blog.
2. Cinta Brontosaurus. this book was published in 2006. similar with his previous book, it's more like the diary of Radith. it was told in the story about the love story of Radith that always unlucky. however, this story was not written in a book but a short story.
3. Radikus Makan Kakus: Bukan Binatang Biasa. it was published on 29 of Agustus, 2007. it tells about the diary of Radith too who always in bad luck.
4. Babi Ngesot: Datang tak Diundang pulang tak berkutang. it was published on April, 2008.
5. Marmut Merah Jambu that published in 2010.
6. Manusia Setengah Salmon that published in 2011.
Radit's Experience
Radith started to write his diary on a blog when he won Online Inspiring Award 2009 from Indosat. from that experience, he published his writing in his own blog and proposed them to some publishing office. Gagasmedia was the first publisher that accept the proposal of Radit. according to him, to become a great writter we must be innovative. that's why he used different style in writing.
Laskar Pelangi is the first novel of Andrea Hirata that I read. the first impression that i felt while i was reading is how perfect he is in writing that novel. it was very great and inspiring. do you know who is he? here, i will share you the biography of the great author Andrea Hirata.
well, the man with curly hair named Andrea Hirata Seman Said Harun was born in Belitung Island on 24 of October, 1982. he is the forth child of four children from the couple of Seman Said Harunayah and NA Masturah. he was born in poor and remote village in Belitung, Indonesia. living in a village that's full of inadequacy makes his personality influenced. he admited that he was much motivated by his environment that showed much apprehension.
as he told in Laskar Pelangi novel, Andrea went to a small school which the condition of the building is very pathetic and almost collapsed. the school named Muhammadiyah Elementary School is concern enough and it was recognized by Andrea. however, he prefered to study in the school that looks more like a cattle pen to reach his dream. after graduating from his study in his homeland, he dared to go to Bogor (west Java) to seek for the job and of course to continue his study in a university. andrea successfuly continued his study in the Faculty of Economi, University of Indonesia (UI), the best and most favorite university in Indonesa.
after finishing his study in UI, he got scholarship to continue his master degree in Universite de Paris, Sorbonne, Franch and Sheffield Hallam Unversity, England. he took Economic theory as his department. because of his brilliant brain, he was graduated with cumlaude status and was able to award his master degree of European Union.
after coming back to Indonesia he worked at PT Telkom. now, Andrea still active as an instructure at the telcommunication company.
